Patrice Evra, a former star for Manchester United, arrived to Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport amid flash, glamor, and hoopla. The former international for France had already announced on social media that he was traveling to West Africa as part of his tour of the continent.
Evra, who is well-known for posting motivational videos on social media with the tagline “I Love This Game,” has previously mentioned how eager he was to visit Ghana.
Prior to his parents relocating to Europe when he was a year old, the former captain of Manchester United was born in Dakar, Senegal.
He began his professional career with the Italian team Marsala and afterwards spent a short time with Monza before joining Nice and moving back to France a year later. According to GH Gossip, his accomplishments for Monaco led to a transfer to English club Manchester United in January 2006. There, he went on to win numerous awards, including five Premier League championships and a UEFA Champions League. Evra was a Juventus player as well.
Evra was hailed by hundreds of waiting supporters as soon as the terminal doors of the Ghana airport opened. He was astounded when he was able to clap along while a music ensemble continued to play trumpet and drums to greet him.
As he was accorded a ceremonial welcome into the nation, a woman gave the Frenchman a bouquet of flowers.
Evra quickly shared the clip on his Instagram handle with the caption ‘this is a real welcome’, and his fans have continued to react. One said: “Beautiful. Make sure they know (Red) Manchester loves Ghana too! @lesamponsah no more Tottenham mistakes! ” Another added: “Please check out my Son Patrick Amartey he plays left back for Tamale City fc. He is your biggest fan.” One wrote: “Akwaaba Uncle P!! Our guy in our country.”
