On Monday, a sizable crowd gathered in the heart of London to honor Queen Elizabeth II as she made her final trip from Westminster to Windsor.
The Royal Navy’s State Gun Carriage, hauled by 142 sailors, brought the coffin to Westminster Abbey, which was topped with the Royal Standard and Imperial State Crown. Senior members of the Royal Family, including King Charles III, followed after on foot.
The streets surrounding Westminster were crowded with people wanting to see the funeral procession from Westminster Hall to the Abbey.
Some 2,000 guests were inside the Abbey for the funeral service, including wider members of the Royal Family and dozens of world leaders and politicians from across the globe.
While Westminster was bustling with activity, other areas of London were strangely silent as many people used the bank holiday to watch the historic events on TV at home.
As the procession moved slowly through the capital’s streets, Big Ben chimed every minute. Additionally, Hyde Park blasted gun salutes every minute.
