Despite being classified as an extreme metal band, Slipknot has maintained a strong presence in the public eye thanks to their devoted and sizable fan base. The 2019 album by Slipknot, We Are Not Your Kind, debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Charts. The band has done so once more as of this week with The End, So Far, their most recent album. Following their 2001 sophomore album Iowa and 2019’s We Are Not Your Kind, Slipknot has claimed their third U.K. number one album with their seventh LP, according to Official Charts U.K. this week. It gets even more interesting because The End, So Far is the group’s final album with Roadrunner Records, who had supported them since their self-titled debut in 1999.
The End, So Far is projected to place in the top 5 or even at No. 1, which would make it the band’s fourth No. 1 album in the United States, based on the trends of Slipknot’s previous two album releases. The official U.S. Top 200 Billboard rankings for this week have not yet been announced.
Overall, it’s appropriate to see the band and label break ways after releasing another hit album together, especially given that the album’s name may be a reference to Slipknot’s past and their association with Roadrunnner. That’s not to suggest, however, that the release of this record has been met with success. There have been instances of The End, So Far physical copies with the album title misprinted, notably as “The End For Now…” The End, So Far was the correct name, someone f**ked up and didn’t double check with us, vocalist Corey Taylor stated in a recent AMA on Reddit. A sticker with the right title was apparently added next to the incorrect print by the label as damage control for the obvious and colossal blunder for such a significant and anticipated release. Although it’s not exactly an appropriate answer, this typo could end up making vinyl enthusiasts quite a bit of money in the future.
